It’s got all the fixings of a good time. Real Wedding: Brooke & Rob’s Seaside Wedding

Real Wedding: Brooke & Rob’s Seaside Wedding:
This summer I had the pleasure of attending a lovely wedding in Jamestown, Rhode Island.  Our friends Rob and Brooke threw a classic seaside wedding with lots of nautical DIY touches.
Let me set the scene…You drive up a long dirt driveway not really knowing where you might end up, though you know you are on an island so an ocean view can’t be far away.  You pull up to a large modern building which is actually an art studio and still you can’t see the ocean but you know it must be close.  As soon as you step around the building, there it is.  A long sloping hill down to the water with a spectacular view looking back to Newport across Narragansett Bay with sailboats floating by just a few hundred feet from the ceremony site.  Brooke dazzled in a strapless mermaid gown and her maids wore navy dresses and pink heels.  We moved into a tent for the reception and were treated to some wonderful speeches and a clam bake dinner, just what you’d expect form these native Rhode Islanders.
Brooke had lots of personal DIY touches that followed her navy nautical theme.  Her printed napkins featured the couple’s new shared last name and complimented the blue and white striped paper straws set out on the bar.  She had a framed photo from their engagement shoot for guests to sign in lieu of a traditional guest book.  The photo booth was definitely a hit with the guests, along with the candy bar that appeared mid way through the reception!  Brooke and Rob also have an adorable (and well-behaved) chocolate lab who took part in the ceremony, so the favors must have been his idea, cookies made to look just like him were set at each place setting!
Brooke later changed into a short whte dress and blue sneakers and hit the dance floor with her bridesmaids.
All this was captured beautifully by the groom’s sister, Kristyn, who is also a wedding photographer.  What a fun wedding!
Congratulations Rob and Brooke!

Modern Monogram

Modern Monogram:
A monogram is defined as “a design or mark consisting of two or more letters intertwined.” How romantic! The monogram is a traditional element rooted in history and at the same time it celebrates your future together as a married couple.  You may immediately picture traditional script lettering, but today’s monograms can be designed to suit your own style.  Use a traditional 3-letter monogram with your new last name as the larger center letter, or go casual by using just the letters of each of your first names.  A monogram is such a versatile design element that it can be incorporated into any wedding decor.  Give it a vintage romantic feel or make it sleek and modern.
Monogram your napkins, favors, menu card and don’t forget your thank-you notes.
What better way to celebrate your new marriage than by showing off your new shared monogram!
